AFI EUROPE
The role of AFI Europe is to grow and develop Footy 9s in Europe. Our outcomes in each country include:

Participation – introducing the sport to encourage participation at the grassroots level, with a focus on youth and community development.

Education – coaching the coaches and teaching the teachers. Our accreditation courses will give sports teachers and coaches the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to teach the game to their students.

Employment – creating opportunities to fund full-time Development Managers to grow and develop the game in Europe.

Talent – creating an annual AFI Europe Combine where talented athletes have the opportunity to showcase their talent and, if selected, play in Australia.

National Team – giving the best players in each country the opportunity to compete against other countries in the region.

People to People links
AFI believes that people-to-people links will be vital in growing the game in Europe. Indeed, the links between Australia and Europe are deep and longstanding. Australia’s cultural identity draws heavily on its predominantly European heritage. Nearly 70 per cent of Australians have European ancestry. Almost 30,000 new European migrants arrive annually and over 1.3 million Europeans visit Australia and 1 million Australians travel to Europe each year.
