What is the date of the tournament?
The AFI Touch Footy World Cup will be held in Melbourne on Saturday 23 March, 2024.
Where is the venue?
Box Hill Rugby Union Football Club, Cnr. Middleborough & Canterbury Roads, Box Hill.
What is the format?
All matches will be mixed (men & women) and there is no tackling.
How many players per team?
Each match will consist of 7 players on the field, plus interchange players. You can have a maximum of 12 players in your team. All teams must have a minimum of 2 females in the squad.
How many teams will participate?
12 teams from Melbourne’s multicultural communities will participate.
Am I eligible to play?
To be eligible to represent your country of origin, players must meet one of the following criteria:
1. he/she has ancestry e.g. born in the country or has a parent or grandparent born in the country which he/she is representing, or
2. he/she can demonstrate a significant link to the country e.g. marriage.
Is there a minimum age?
Players must be a minimum of 15 years old to participate.

What is the cost?
For players competing in the Touch Footy World Cup, and who already have their own AFI footy jumper, the Player Registration fee is $75. Your registration fee covers the substantial costs of running the event, which include Venue Hire, Field Marking, Event Staff, Umpires, Footballs, Trophies & Medals, Music DJ, Photographers and Filming. Our major aim is to ensure that all players, teams and officials enjoy a fantastic day!
What about jumpers?
For those players who need a new AFI Footy jumper, the cost is $110. The $110 includes your footy jumper, which is yours to keep, plus the cost of your Player Registration (above).
Please note the normal cost of the jumper is $50, however AFI is pleased to provide a discount to enable new players to participate in the tournament.
When are you ordering jumpers?
We are ordering jumpers on 5 March 2024, so they are ready in time for the tournament. If you need a new jumper and have not yet advised your jumper size and the number you want on the back of the jumper, please text your information to Brian Clarke on 0435 092 987.
