The AFL Footy Carnival is an exciting new 9-a-side tournament played in Melbourne. Each player will represent their AFL club and play in their AFL club jumper! What is Footy 9s?
Footy 9s is an exciting and dynamic new version of Aussie Rules football. Footy 9s has been developed by AFI to allow Australian Football to be played on rectangular fields throughout the world.
What does AFI do?
AFI’s role is to grow and promote Footy 9s both internationally and within Australia, with a focus on community development.

What is the cost?
For players competing in the AFL Footy Carnival the Player Registration fee is only $70. This covers the cost of your participation in the event, which includes your tournament fees.
Your tournament fees cover the substantial costs of running the event, which include venue hire, event management, umpires, footballs, trophies & medals, filming, photographers etc. Our major aim is to ensure that all players and teams enjoy a fantastic day!
How many people are in each team?
Each team will be made up of a maximum of 12 players – 9 on the field plus a maximum of 3 interchange. Interchange of players can take place at any time, so everyone will enjoy some serious game time.
Are the teams mixed?
Yes, each team must have a minimum of 3 females in their squad of 12 players.
Do I bring my own footy jumper?
Yes. All players are required to bring their own AFL club jumper. This keeps the costs of the tournament down, as many players already have their own jumper. More beer money for you!
