LATIN AMERICA SCHOOLS

Australian Football International (AFI) ran a pilot project for the development of the sport in Latin America in April 2016.

The project was funded by the Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR), which was established by the Australian Government to enhance Australia’s economic, political and social relations with Latin America.

The AFI Latin America project consisted of a 4 week program at 4 schools in Santiago, Chile.

The first 3 weeks at each school involved learning the skills of the game and playing a match. The final week consisted of a Carnival Day, where all 4 schools came together to play for the COALAR Cup.

We also ran a coaching & umpiring accreditation course for local sports teachers and coaches.
