AFI will actively lobby for the inclusion of Footy 9s in a number of international multi-sport events (Major Games).
Inclusion in these Games is an important first step if Footy 9s is to be recognised as an Olympic sport.
Our strategy is to be first included as a demonstration sport in each of these Games, and then build on that exposure to be included as a fully fledged sport.
These Games offer tremendous opportunities for the exposure and promotion of Footy 9s. Put in its most basic form, it is much easier to bring the footy to the crowd than to bring the crowd to the footy.
