What is the Wings of Glory Cup?
The Wings of Glory Cup is multicultural footy event that will be held in Melbourne. Both Italy and Greece will represent their communities and play in their national colours. It is run by Australian Football International (AFI).
I would love to play for Italy or Greece. Do I qualify?
There are two simple criteria for player eligibility – that a player was born in the country or has a parent or grandparent born in the country which he or she is representing. Players must also be at least 16 years of age in order to participate.
Is there a women’s match?
Absolutely! The Wings of Glory cup will be a double-header, with Italy v Greece (women), followed by Italy v Greece (men).
What are the playing rules?
The format is normal 18-per-side footy. The tournament will be played under the AFL Laws of The Game.
What is the date of the event?
The Wings of Glory Cup will be held in September 2024. We will announce the date and venue once the AFLW fixture is released.
